My question did not get answered here...

Q: The generated Setup/the GkSetup Toolkit shows a message box with the text: "ALERT ! Executable corrupt. Possibly a virus !!!"
A: The shown message is no joke. 90% of all reports are caused by a real virus infection. The GkSetup package itself and all generated setups contain an integrity check that is triggered by all modifications to the executables.
Fix: Download a virus scanner and clean the infection.

Q: Does GkSetup support installing fonts ?
A: Yes, but not directly. Just copying fonts somewhere is usually not sufficient. On some OS variants it is necessary to also (Un-)Register them properly. There are two little utilities that deal with these issues and that allow you to install fonts using GkSetup. Just email support to get a (free) copy.

Q: Is GkSetup Y2K compliant ?
A: Yes. Older versions successfully passed a Y2k test. GkSetup relies on the Visual C++ 6 runtime library for file date comparisons. This is the only Y2K sensitive part in GkSetup.

 

Q: Do I have to pay royalties for each created setup ?
A: No. GkSetup is licensed per user/development system. A GkSetup license allows you to create an unlimited number of installers. There are no additional royalties.

Q: Is the Free-Edition really free ?
A: There are licensing restrictions for the Free-Editions. If your application complies to these rules, then you may use GkSetup Free-Edition without paying only a single cent.
